In this talk we'll showcase how the Vodafone Foundation, in partnership with UNHCR (UN High Commissioner for Refugees), is bringing digital education (SDG 4) to refugees and host communities, aiming to improve learning outcomes for 500,000 students by March 2026. We'll learn about:

The development of the Instant Classroom kit.

  • Running the Instant Classroom offline first.
  • User interface translations into Swahili and Arabic, CSS grid, and how the browser can help you.
  • Using Elixir and Ansible to manage and update remote servers in rural Africa.
